Character Information: Here!

Personality: Once upon a time, there was a war. A Horse was born into this war, and in order to survive, there were certain ways the Horse had to learn how to be. She learned to be loyal to her Rider at all times; her Rider would look out for her, but would also guide her into dangerous situations that Rider knew they could get out of. She learned to be bold, to face down violence and adversity, and get herself out the other end of it through her own power and strength of will.

These are what the Horse had to be, in order to live through an endless war - and then one day, she was transported to Centaurworld, an alternate universe sequestered away from the horrors and violence of battle.

In Centaurworld, Horse gained a lot of things - a voice and the use of language, a new group of friends, a place away from war. In some ways she remained the same, though her personality traits expressed themselves in new ways.

Though a world away from Rider, Horse remained loyal to her. This loyalty for a time expressed itself as obsession, as she focused single-mindedly on finding her way back to Rider, journeying to every corner of the world to find the magical artifacts she needed to return home. As Horse slowly befriended her new centaur herd, she gained a deep loyalty to all of them as well, always trying to look after their well-being - such as when Wammawink needed sleep, and Horse stopped her other friends from waking Wammawink up. She learned over time to care for a larger group of friends, becoming loyal to a herd in addition to her loyalty to her Rider.

Meanwhile, in the peaceful Centaurworld, Horse's boldness expressed itself as recklessness. She led her new centaur friends into danger, even into the path of a Taurnado, without looking out for their well-being. As Horse grew more and learned to care for her friends, this recklessness finally resolved itself into bravery, with Horse eventually leading her friends into battle to fight together against the Nowhere King.

But in journeying to Centaurworld, Horse's personality began to develop and expand. Some of her new personality traits came into being just through interacting with her new friends; others expressed themselves as side-effects of trauma.

It is something of a stereotype that horses are anxious creatures. Still, the boldness and bravery of Horse in the face of dangerous situations would suggest at first glance that this trait would not apply to her. Nevertheless, displacing Horse into a world far from her closest family, and full of strange and unusual things, made Horse a very anxious creature indeed. Since arriving in Centaurworld, Horse expressed a great deal of anxiety with things that she wasn't used to or comfortable with, ranging from uncertainty in a beauty pageant she was forced to take part in, to a constant anxiety as to whether she and Rider would recognize each other after so long apart.

This segues neatly into a major personality trait that Horse developed as she took ahold of her own agency in Centaurworld: Horse became very self-doubting. After Horse and Rider were reunited, and they parted ways again to build two armies to fight the Nowhere King, Horse took it upon herself to recruit centaurs to battle. She failed again and again, while her herdmates were able to succeed in winning multiple groups over to their cause. Horse doubted herself constantly during this period, even doubting whether she would be good enough for Rider once she learned that in her absence, Rider had begun working with another different horse named Becky Apples.

Despite these troubles, Horse did well in Centaurworld. Between the influence of Rider back home, and her new centaur herd in Centaurworld, Horse became very kind. She did her best to show kindness and empathy to her friends when she noticed they were doing poorly, such as when she jumped into Wammawink's backstory and stayed with her friend's younger self in the aftermath of a trauma. She even tried to show kindness to her enemies, such as when she met the Elk that made up the core of the Nowhere King, and listened to him and did her best to understand him.

Horse's kindness did come with one caveat, however: due to being so comparatively new at socializing (and due to her Rider not being the most social person either), Horse could be rather blunt when talking to others. When her friends asked her what glue is, Horse calmly explained that it's made out of boiled hooves - something which, to her surprise, sent them into a panic. Sometimes Horse gave her friends a dose of tough love, such as when she first observed that they were all bored and needed to get out from under Wammawink's overly protective influence.

Perhaps this bluntness can be somewhat forgiven, however, because the flip side of this is that Horse was quite earnest in how she interacted with others and with the world. While she was initially anxious about new things, Horse eagerly threw herself into new experiences once she'd gotten over that initial hurdle, from a beauty pageant to a theatrical re-enactment, from a comedy duo act to an army recruitment effort. She was very honest and open about these experiences, too, and carried the worthwhile ones forward with her - such as when she used her backstory magic in a key moment to take down the Nowhere King.

From the opening minutes of the show, Horse was a stranger in a strange land, thrown from one new method of being to another and yet another. And while her path was frequently stumbling and awkward, Horse always did her best to move forward, both for the sake of herself and for those she loved.
